Kivu Lake – matured and dried in the African sun, is the most desired coffee by world connoisseurs. It grows at an altitude of 1,800 – 2,000 meters above sea level, on volcanic hills. The harvest period lasts from March to June. Selected coffee fruits are naturally fermented. Lake Kivu, surrounded by coffee plantations, is located on the border of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the highest part of the Great Rift Valley. Volcanic eruptions continually enrich the soil bordering the lake with minerals, making the Kivu Region the most fertile region in Rwanda. In recent years, the Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes have erupted, providing the soil with a new portion of volcanic wealth. That’s why coffee grown in that region has a unique taste. Called the queen of coffee, it is very sought after.

The light roast is recommended for pour-over and alternative methods.

Aromas: Chocolate, jasmine.
